The Group EVS is an initiative of Jeugddienst Don Bosco vzw and its volunteers. Youthopia is a volunteers project for 16 international animators on Belgian playgrounds/oratories. The service consists of 2 weeks, from Monday till Friday, of volunteering on a Flemish Don Bosco playground. The animators will be split up into groups (max. 4 volunteers) and will be active on the different Salesian playgrounds (oratories). The aim is to create a joyful time and holidays for the children from the age group of 4 to 16. The volunteers will be working together with Belgian animators to develop creative and nice activities for the children coming to the oratory. The volunteers work together in planning, leading and evaluation of the programs and thus take active participation in the work with the children (and animators).
European volunteers will learn a lot by the non-formal way of cooperating with Belgian animators but as well by meeting the children in a playful environment. The volunteers will train and develop themselves on different levels: youth leadership, social skills, enterpreneurship, language competence, ....
During the weekends, international volunteers will take part in a joint program which will organized and carried out by experienced volunteers of Jeugddienst Don Bosco. This program will offer training, evaluation, intercultural activities and cultural sightseeing. The weekends will take place in Sint-Joris-Weert, Bruges and Oud-Heverlee.
