Do you have some free time in August and September? Do you want to spend some awesome weeks with a nice team in Germany? Are you interested in working with children in an intercultural context?
Then go on reading!
The Global Holiday Camp was founded by volunteers and will take part for the fourth time this year. The camp aims to familiarize the participants with European and global topics, as sustainability or diversity, by creating space for experiences. We also try to include the aspects of Salesian pedagogy, human rights animation and the concept of the oratory. To do so, we plan a lot of activities, sports and crafts.
There will be two camps, each for five days, one located in Benediktbeuern and the other one in Regensburg (Bavaria).
You will support the team of animators for both camps. In each camp, there will be around 30 kids, from 10 to 14 years old. The program will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will include a sleepover on the last night.
We are a mixed group of former Don Bosco volunteers with national and international youth work experience. We are coming from all over Germany and are looking forward to spending an awesome time with the team and the kids.
What we expect:
You should be motivated and openminded to be a part of our team. Your tasks during the preparation and the camp include organizing, supporting the program, contributing your ideas and animating the children.
To participate you need to be fluent in English. The program will mostly be led in German, but we will facilitate the language barrier. The preparation and evaluation will take place in English.
In addition, it would be desirable if you had experience in youth work and animation in the Don Bosco context. Lastly, you should be preferably between 19 and 27 years old.
Still not sure, if you want to participate? We have some more impressions for you!
“I am very grateful for two amazing weeks. I had the possibility to spend time together with german animators and to create a nice program for children from different cultures. This experience gave me a lot of inspiration and mainly the motivation to continue working with children. I returned with lots of beautiful memories, which I will never forget.” Anežka (Czech Republic), exchanger at GHC 2019
“I experienced my summer exchange camp one and a half year ago in Regensburg. I found a very interesting culture and German habits through the German volunteers. I´ve got nice memories on the entire accommodation and this experience pushed me further in my life.“ Tomáš (Slovakia), exchanger at GHC 2018
