What is iSEC? iSEC is an English summer camp organised by SADBA (Salesian Association of Don Bosco) for Czech young people. The camp is run by Czech leaders and international volunteers. These volunteers are part of leadership team and together organize a program for participants. The camp's program is held in English and international animators are therefore an extremely important part of the camp. Our Participants Participants are boys and girls from the Czech Republic in the ages of 15-18. The young people usually come from families with Christian or Salesian background, but it is not obligatory. Meeting international animators can have a huge impact on their lives, because it is sometimes their first interaction with foreign people and cultures. Program The camp lasts for 10 days and the leader's team spends 3 extra days in Prague, before the camp starts. This time is dedicated to sightseeing, team building and finalisation of the program. At the camp, we want to focus on modern technologies, faith, relationships and also on complicated or controversial topics. We deliver the topics throughout various activities such as discussions, games, scenes etc. International Leaders International volunteers are essential for iSEC camp. Their presence and interaction with young people is what makes the camp special. Speaking with someone who has a different mother tongue is an amazing opportunity to learn something about foreign countries or cultures. Meet Ben and Kabwe, the international volunteers 2020! Your role, as an international animator is to be present and participate in program sessions of the camp. You are asked to spend time with our participants and try to encourage them into speaking English by whatever activity you can think of, mostly by playing games, singing songs etc. The volunteers are also to contributing to the program. You are part of the leadership team and as such you can share your experience on volunteering/religion/politics within the program blocks. The Internationals usually prepare some energizers (short, energetic games), which can be played anytime suitable with our participants. Every year we ask our international volunteers to prepare a program which is connected to their country; the more creative, the better. You will (if willing) be also engaged to the spiritual program of our camp, usually one morning and evening prayer and one goodnight talk. The Czech team is willing to help you with anything you may need. So don’t be afraid to ask for help. We expect our volunteers to be responsible, able to speak in English and interested in working with young people. Experience with working at Salesians is an advantage. iSEC is an amazing camp, so come and be a part of it! The Czech team is looking forward to meeting YOU.
